Can One DM Get a Barber to the World Cup? Bryan Guardado's Story Explained for Barbers

One DM. One reply. A seat at the World Cup. Dallas mobile barber Bryan Guardado messaged a squad of footballers offering a haircut, and only one of them answered. Here is the story behind our latest Sultan Barber News reel, explained for barbers.

Who is Bryan Guardado?

Bryan Guardado is a 22-year-old mobile barber based in Dallas, Texas. He works on the move rather than from a fixed shop, and he built his biggest client relationship from a single message.

How one DM started it

Several years ago, when FC Barcelona came to Dallas for a match, Bryan messaged the players and offered them a haircut. Only one replied: Lamine Yamal, who was 15 at the time. What began as one haircut grew into a trusted relationship.

From one reply to the 2026 World Cup

At the 2026 World Cup, Yamal asked Bryan to cut Spain's hair throughout the tournament. Then a France player saw social media clips of his cuts for Spain and asked him to do the same for France. Bryan made a point of keeping his cut different from the ones the players had had before, and the work carried him all the way to this year's World Cup final.

The plot twist: Bryan is a Real Madrid fan, the biggest rivals of Yamal's club Barcelona.

What barbers can take from it

Bryan's own advice, as quoted by BarberEVO: "Take that chance. Be patient, love what you do and shoot your shot." For working barbers the lesson is practical. A short, polite message can open a door, a client who trusts you will recommend you, and clips of your work on social media can bring the next client to you. Who would you DM first?
